New Year’s Resolutions!
By:Amal Almalki

I’m trying to write my New Year’s resolution and I’m finding it really hard. I have one million things that I wish I can do and one million things I wish I can change this year. Still, I need to be realistic and work on a doable list for 2010.  I’ll share it with you if you share your New Year resolutions with us!

For the past 4 years my new year resolution is to give up smoking and I have failed every single time. I hope I get it right this time :)

I have many resolutions too, though my top three are: 1: to continue controlling/eliminating my addictions to certain food. 2: Be a better best friend, apparently I've been a careless one over the past year. 3: Treat a friend with less sarcasm than I usually do. I hope I manage to keep up at least half of the long list, last year I gave up the whole list on the second week :)

Next year is going to be an importent year in my life since I have to choose between few baths which would shape my life in the future; will I continue my studies abroad and leave the country again to do my MBA, or will stay in Doha and continue my fine arts degree and go for paining (the love of my life), or will I be considering settling down and getting married (and become a normal Qatari as many people say!) which in that case I would have to cancel the other two options, or will I focus on my job and get my position as a division head in 18 months (if I was able to focus a 100%)... Sometime next year, I am going to have to choose, and I know that it would not be easy, but what is keeping me smiling is that everyone of these options has its own experience and challenges.. Another major issue is that I have to get back in track with my diet since I drifted away from it in the past 6 months even though I was so close to my target.. I am aiming to reach my target within 2010.... I really hope that I could balance between all these things at once however I am sure that sometimes next year the time will come when I have to choose, and it won't be easy..... wish me luck

    1. To LIVE ... a little more - stop, pause, take things in, drop a thing or two from my to-do-list everyday 2. To LAUGH ... a little more - really didn't do enough of that this year 3. To LOVE...a little more - trade in some of my reticence 4. To WRITE... a little more - not for work, but simply for the love of it

Here is my list of the main things I want to accomplish in 2010:  I need to learn what “Balance” means and start applying it in my life! I’m eccentric, impulsive and moody- a typical Pisces.  I need to say “NO” more often at work.  I need to spend more time with family and friends and less in the office.  I need to publish my first book in the first 6 months of 2010.  I need to turn my PhD thesis into a book by end of 2010.  I need to take some time off to do all that.  Most importantly, I want to write more on my blog and make more friends. Nada, Mohammed, Kissifur, Sandeepkadian, Atif, and all readers and friends “Happy New Year”.

Success is not an accident; it begins with a well-conceived plan, so this year I'm determined to try harder and I plan to succeed. That’s why my First and most important resolution is that Get Out of Debt, I vow to use credit cards solely for emergency purposes and put more money into savings and investments so I can Enjoy My Life More in the future. Second new start; Quit an Old Bad Habit, to begin of a better tomorrow ............ Furthermore, with 2009 almost gone, and a new decade upon us, I wish to see the world of humanity stretching across east and west to fulfilling the purpose of peace ......... Dear Amal. Wish you Happiness and Joy... And Blessings for the New Year

My Best New Year quote ................... Do not say, "It is morning," and dismiss it with a name of yesterday. See it for the first time as a newborn child that has no name ................... Tagore

Hi Prof .... It has been a long time since the last article you edited, and we are always in a hasten for your brilliant writing, it is our fertile source in the first place, therefore, you must enrich your garish blog continuously, and do not stop for an extensive time between the article and the other because we miss such bold pens, omniscient, portentous and utopian in this country.
